Background
Tony Stark was the son of Howard Stark, an industrialist and inventor. Tony was extremely gifted and intelligent. At the age of 15, he was accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to graduate at the top of his class. After his father died when he was 21, Tony took over his company, Stark Industries.While observing some of his experimental technologies during the Vietnam War, (in more recent versions The Gulf War and Afghanistan) he was captured and forced to design weapons for the enemy. When a piece of shrapnel hit him near the heart before he was captured Tony built a powered suit to keep his heart beating. He escaped imprisonment and became Iron Man.
As Iron Man, Tony had an ally in James Rhodes who later became the hero, War Machine. His enemies include The Mandarin and Obadiah Stane, although some might say his greatest enemy was alcoholism. He was sometimes too drunk to even wear his suit.
Tony Stark was one of the most influential people in both regular life and the superhero world. He has gathered the most respected and intelligent superheroes in the world to help make decisions for all of superhero-kind while also acting for all humanity.
