Eowyn

The Mundane World

Eowyn was the niece of Théoden, King of Rohan. Rohan was crumbling as Théoden's mind had been poisoned by his advisor, Gríma. Eowyn took care of her uncle as best she could, but she suffered from depression.

The Call To Adventure

Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli arrived at Meduseld.  Gandalf healed Théoden and asked him to join in the war against Sauron. 

Crossing The Threshold

Eowyn was left in charge of the people who remained in Rohan as the army left for the Battle of Helm's Deep. She was suggested because the people loved her. This first attempt at leadership was successful as she convinced the people to leave their farms and lives behind as they hid in Dunharrow.

The Path of Trials

Aragorn returned to let Eowyn know of the success at Helm's Deep. She fell in love with him, sensing his regal nature. She asked to be included in the army that was heading to Minas Tirith but was again denied by Aragorn and her uncle. With a number of rejections from Aragorn, Eowyn wanted to go to war and die.

She decided to don armour and carry a sword, pretending to be a male warrior. Merry the Hobbit found out and asked to join her - he was concerned by her apparent death wish. Together they rode to the fields of Pelennor where an enormous battle occurred.

Eowyn saw her uncle killed and confronted the Witch King of Angmar. The Lord of Nazgul was not afraid of anyone as he was destined not be killed by any man. Eowyn pointed out that she was not a man, taking off her helmet and, with the help of Merry, killed him. She was heavily wounded in the fight, but survived to be taken into Minas Tirith.

Master of Two Worlds

Eowyn met Faramir after the battle and slowly fell in love with him. She realised that she had a lot to offer him and the people of Rohan. She decided to be a healer - of people and the land. With her attention Rohan was able to return to the state it had been before the war.
